Reconfigurable multi-component micromachines driven by optoelectronic tweezers

چکیده

Abstract There is great interest in the development of micromotors which can convert energy to motion sub-millimeter dimensions. Micromachines take micromotor concept a step further, comprising complex systems multiple components work concert effectively realize mechanical tasks. Here we introduce light-driven and micromachines that rely on optoelectronic tweezers (OET). Using circular micro-gear as unit component, demonstrate range new functionalities, including touchless micro-feed-roller allows programming precise three-dimensional particle trajectories, multi-component trains serve torque- or velocity-amplifiers, micro-rack-and-pinion microfluidic valves. These sophisticated suggest potential for future, application microrobotics, micromanipulation, microfluidics, beyond.
